I think one of the most difficult things to come to terms with was that I’m not just one thing and I don’t want to follow just one path and so I was completely torn. I love my fiction writing, but I also love my non-fiction writing. Both fulfill me. Both provide something to others that can assist and uplift them. And I wanted to bring both to life in the world. But we’re told that we have to follow one course, one path, one career. And if you want to change your career, you focus on one thing that you change to. And we’re not supposed to do more than one thing even if we love different things like my fiction and non-fiction writing. If we do decide to go in more than one direction, then we have to put them under different labels for marketing, for professionalism, for brand identity, all these other crazy things. But what if we’re more than just one thing and what if all have equal value? And what if a;; equally give something of value to others, even if it’s just a pleasant evening in front of the fireplace? This is where true value and true creativity lie. And so I’ve chosen to create both to bring both alive in the world and to do it openly and honestly under my own name because this is who I am. And why should I hide that for marketing purposes? That’s crazy. It’s also disingenuous. It’s not the authentic me and authenticity is exactly what we need both as individuals and as creators in this world. Know thyself. That’s authenticity. Be who you truly are. That’s authenticity. Explore everything that gives you the greatest joy because that is the greatest offering you have for the rest of us. That is authenticity.
